Vigitron Wins ISO Approval

09/15/2009

Vigitron, the San Diego-based manufacturer of UTP transmission devices, has won approval for its manufacturing processes from the international standards body ISO. The company has been awarded ISO9001 certification, so becoming one of a small number of manufacturers of UTP products for CCTV applications in the world to receive this type of accreditation.

The recognition is formal endorsement of a confidence in production methods that has seen Vigitron offer life-time warranty on its products, including a range of multi-channel passive and active hubs that are creating significant interest in the unshielded twisted pair marketplace.

The ISO ratification underlines that the units are engineered to the finest tolerances and produced as part of an overall approach whose stringent documentation ensures all processes are tightly defined.

Company President Ali Eghbal said: “The ISO recognition is a final stamp of professionalism for Vigitron from an outside body that confirms the orderly systems and rigor of our approach. The audit process is wide-ranging with a focus being quality of documentation and training of personnel through manuals that allow them to produce identical batches again and again over long cycles.”

He continued: “High levels of documentation have always been a part of Vigitron corporate culture and have contributed to consistent design and manufacture of innovative products.

Vigitron Announces a Line of UTP Transmission Solutions with Automatic Video Compensation (AVC)

09/02/2008

Vigitron introduces the new Vi6200 and Vi6300 series of active receiver Hubs with Automatic Video Compensation (AVC) feature. These products are capable of transmitting and receiving video on UTP cable at mid range 4,000 feet (1,220m) and long range 6,500 feet (1,980m) transmission distances.

The new Automatic Video Compensation circuitry enables installers of CCTV to easily transmit video pictures over UTP cable at distances up to 6,500 feet (1,980m). When using AVC, excellent video quality is achieved automatically as the receivers do not require any adjustment.

The AVC’s “plug and play” capability reduces installation time dramatically. Simply fit a Vi6300VT, active transmitter at the camera and the Vi6200 series in the control room can automatically compensate for any video losses up to 4,000 feet (1,220m), while the Vi6300 series can provide excellent images up to 6,500 Feet (1,980m). These new Vigitron models are built to fit in a standard 19” rack and come with complete rack mounting kits and a full set of interconnecting cables.

Security surveillance for newest ride at Legoland® Windsor with Vigitron

06/02/2008

The Legoland® site contains approximately 55 million Lego® bricks set in 150 acres of parkland and is visited by 1.5 million annually. Staff at the Berkshire attraction is now able to watch visitors from two control desks at any point on their progress through the rapids ride.

Vikings’ River Splash, the newest, biggest, wettest ride at Legoland® Windsor, required optimum security surveillance to ensure customer safety and efficient operation.

DES Security Systems were chosen to install the system across the whole ride and worked with QED who provided the cable and Vigitron UTP equipment for the project. Vigitron, Inc designs and manufactures a full range of twisted pair transceivers for transmitting colour and monochrome video and data over unshielded twisted pair cable.

Andy Fielding of DES Security said: “Due to the huge voltages used to power the water pumps and a massive lake in the middle of the ride, the cabling had to go round the perimeter of the attraction. This required exceptionally long runs of over 500m. The performance of the Vigitron transceivers meant we could retain high signal quality over these distances.”

Sixteen cameras were fitted to the ride, using Vigitron transmitters feeding back to the powered receiver at the main control desk which in turn feeds the signals to the secondary control position via a single 25 pair CAT5 cable supplied by QED.
